How to find IMEI number on Android

Nearly every mobile device comes with a unique IMEI number, Android phones included. An IMEI is a lot like a car’s VIN, but for your phone. Similarly, how to find IMEI numbers is about as easy as finding a car’s VIN. You may need to verify your IMEI in order to make a warranty claim on your phone, or it could be used to track down or disable a stolen phone. Find IMEI in your phone’s Settings

If you have your Android phone on you and you can navigate the menu, one of the easiest ways to find your IMEI number is through the Settings:

• Open Settings on your Android phone
• Scroll down and tap on About Phone
• Depending on your Android model, you may already see your IMEI here
• If not, select Status and look for your IMEI 
• Press & hold the IMEI number to copy it (if needed)

Find IMEI using the Phone app

If you can’t get into the settings, or just prefer to use the keypad, dialing a short code will also display your IMEI number:

• Go into the Phone app
• Open the Keypad
• Dial *#06#
• Your IMEI number will pop up on the screen
• You can’t copy it here, but you can take a screenshot

Find IMEI on the Android phone itself

Some Android models have the IMEI number printed somewhere on the device:

Finding the IMEI on the SIM tray (for newer Android models)

• Use a SIM ejector tool or paper clip to remove the SIM card tray
• The IMEI number should be etched on the SIM card tray
• If it’s difficult to read, try taking a photo and zooming in 

Finding the IMEI under the battery (for older Android models)

• Turn off your Android phone and remove the battery
• Locate the white sticker under the battery
• The IMEI should be printed on this sticker, next to a barcode and other details
• Write it down or take a picture of it (if necessary)

Find IMEI using your Google Account online

If you don’t have your phone, you can also locate your IMEI by logging in to your Google account on a computer:

• Go to the Google Find My Device page and click Sign in
• Sign in using the Google Account & password associated with your Android phone
• Select your phone from the list of devices
• Click on the info icon (i) to view its IMEI

Find the IMEI on the original Android box

If you kept the original packaging your Android phone came in, the IMEI number is printed on the box:

• Find your Android box
• Locate the sticker on the back or side of the box
• You’ll see the IMEI number printed on this sticker, along with the serial number, a barcode and other details

Find IMEI in your wireless carrier account 

Some carriers (but not all) will display your IMEI number when you log in to your account online:

• Visit your carrier’s website (T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, etc.)
• Log in to your account
• Look for “My Devices” or “Manage Devices” and click on it
• Select your Android phone to see if your IMEI number is displayed with other device information
