Nearly every mobile device comes with a unique IMEI number. An IMEI is a lot like a car’s VIN, but for your phone. Similarly, an IMEI search is about as easy as locating the VIN. You may need to verify your IMEI in order to make a warranty claim on your phone, or it could b

Find IMEI in iPhone Settings

If you have your iPhone on you and you can navigate the menu, one of the easiest ways to find your IMEI number is through the Settings:

  • Open Settings on your iPhone
  • Tap on General
  • Select About
  • Scroll down until you see your IMEI number
  • Press & hold the IMEI number to copy it (if needed)

If you can’t get into the settings, or just prefer to use the keypad, dialing a short code will also display your IMEI number:

  • Go into the Phone app
  • Open the Keypad
  • Dial *#06#
  • Your IMEI number will pop up on the screen
  • You can’t copy it here, but you can take a screenshot

Find IMEI on SIM Tray

Some iPhone models have the IMEI number printed on the device’s SIM card tray.

  • Use a SIM ejector tool or paper clip to remove the SIM card tray
  • The IMEI number should be etched on the SIM card tray
  • If it’s difficult to read, try taking a photo and zooming in

Some iPhone models have the IMEI printed on the back of the device:

  • Remove any phone case and flip your iPhone over so you can see the back
  • The IMEI number may be engraved at the bottom
  • Write it down or take a picture of it (if necessary)

Find IMEI using Apple ID

You can also locate your IMEI by logging in to your Apple account with your Apple ID:

  • Go to the Apple ID website
  • Sign in using the Apple ID & password associated with your iPhone
  • Scroll to the section labeled “Devices” 
  • Select your iPhone from the list of devices to view its IMEI

Find the IMEI on the original iPhone box

If you kept the original packaging your iPhone came in, the IMEI number is printed on the box:

  • Find your iPhone box
  • Locate the sticker on the back or side of the box
  • You’ll see the IMEI number printed on this sticker, along with the serial number, a barcode and other details
