You may have heard that the government program known as ACP is coming to an end. If you’re unsure what ACP is and what that means, keep reading. We’ve got all the necessary information about what ACP is and what its closing means to those looking for an affordable wireless plan.
What is ACP?
ACP stands for the Affordable Connectivity Program. The FCC established the program as a benefit program to help ensure that more households can afford the broadband they need for work, school and so on. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding the program is coming to a close this April (2024).
According to the ACP website, the last fully funded month of the program is April 2024.
Is ACP ending?
Yes. Due to a lack of funding, the FCC has announced the program will end, unless Congress approves additional funding. The last month that ACP households will receive the full ACP discount is April 2024.
If you’re currently receiving ACP benefits, you should have received notice from your wireless, or internet service provider about the impact on your service and bill after the program closes.
Unless Congress provides additional funding, ACP households will no longer receive ACP benefits starting in May 2024.
What does this mean?
If you’ve received ACP benefits before to help cover the cost of your internet access, you might be concerned about your costs going up. Fortunately, there are affordable options available, especially with Ultra Mobile where you can get plans with 3GB of Data for as low as $14/month. More on this below.
How can I get an affordable phone and data plan?
Luckily, you don’t have to look far to find a new affordable wireless plan. Our smallest data plan is our 3GB plan which is available as a Single-Month Plan for only $19/month. If you can pay for more months upfront, you can get an even lower monthly price when you buy it in 3-, 6- or 12-month increments. Our 3GB 3-Month plan is $16/month, 3GB 6-Month plan is $15/month and the 3GB 12-month plan is only $14/month.
With prices that low, you can get affordable wireless even without an ACP benefit.
