Monitor Your Usage to Avoid Overpaying
One easy way to avoid unnecessary costs on wireless plans and data is to monitor your data usage to avoid needing to purchase costly Add-Ons, and if you’re able to use less data you can even qualify for a lower data plan with a lower price.
How to Check Your Data Usage
iPhone
iOS 17 and earlier
- Open the Settings app
- Tap Cellular or Mobile Data
Scroll to Cellular Data Usage to see how much data you’ve used in the current period of time.
“Note”
This number doesn’t reset automatically each billing cycle. You can manually reset it at the bottom of the page by tapping Reset Statistics (e.g., on your billing start date).
Android
May vary slightly between devices:
- Open the Settings app
- Tap Network & Internet > SIMs or Mobile Network
- Select Data usage to see current usage
- Tip: On some Android phones, such as a Samsung, you can find it under Settings > Connections > Data Usage
After monitoring your monthly data usage, you may find out that you can downgrade data plans and save even more additional money. A win-win!
