How do I switch from Straight Talk to Ultra Mobile?
Now that you’ve decided to join the Ultra family, it’s time to officially make the switch. Let’s go over what to do before, during and after you’ve made the switch.
1. Prepare for the Switch
Make absolutely sure Ultra Mobile is going to work for you by checking your phone’s compatibility with our network and the coverage in your area. Make sure you look at home as well as where you work and any other areas where you spend most of your time. For more tips on switching, you can also visit our How to Switch page.
2. Bringing Your Own Phone?
If you are bringing your own phone, in addition to being compatible with our network, it must also be unlocked. For more information on bringing your own phone to Ultra, visit our BYOP page.

3. Bring Your Own Number (or Get a New One)
If you would like to bring your Straight Talk number over to Ultra, there are a few things you need to do before you activate your Ultra Mobile account.
Don’t cancel your Straight Talk service yet
If you cancel your Straight Talk account before transferring your number to Ultra, the number will be lost.
Gather essential account details
To bring your number to Ultra, you’ll need your Straight Talk Account Number, Account PIN or Number Transfer PIN and billing ZIP Code.
Getting your Straight Talk account number
If you bought your phone from Straight Talk, your account number is typically your phone’s IMEI or MEID number. There are two ways to find this:
- Dial *#06# on your phone’s keypad
- Go into your phone’s settings and select About Phone
If you brought your own phone to Straight Talk, your account number will be the last 15 digits of your SIM card ICCID number. Your account number may also be printed on your bill or visible when you log in to your Straight Talk account online.
Get your Straight Talk number transfer PIN
- The fastest way to obtain your number transfer PIN from Straight Talk is by texting NTP to 611611.
- Or, you can log in to your Straight Talk account online, select My Account and click on Number Transfer PIN. Follow the steps to verify your identity and request the PIN.
If you want a new Ultra Mobile phone number, all you need to do is provide us with your home ZIP code during the activation process and we’ll give you one based on your location.

5. Choose your SIM Preference
Ultra Mobile supports SIM cards and eSIM. You can have a physical SIM card mailed to you within about 3-5 business days. If your phone is eSIM-compatible, you can opt to activate with an eSIM in minutes. Not sure? You can check if your phone supports eSIM with just a few clicks.
6. Time to Activate!
