In today’s world, privacy and security concerns are at the top of many people’s minds — and here at Ultra Mobile, we’re no different. In fact, we’ve recently added new security features to keep our Customers even safer as they stay connected with their loved ones across the globe. Read on to learn the top 4 ways we’re keeping Ultra Mobile Customers safe and secure on our network, as well as how to use these features.

Sim Protect: how to turn sim protect on and how to turn sim protect off

1. SIM Protect

SIM Protect is a new security tool that allows you to lock certain account features to prevent unauthorized changes. When SIM Protect is enabled, it prevents any attempts to replace your SIM card or transfer your phone number.

How to turn SIM Protect on

To turn on SIM Protect, go to the ‘Password & Security’ tab in your account online or in the Ultra Mobile App, and you’ll see a button to turn it on. Once SIM Protect is on, it stays on indefinitely.

How to turn SIM Protect off

Only our Customers can turn SIM Protect off. For added security, if a Customer attempts to turn it off, we require them to validate that they’re the account owner with a One-Time Passcode (OTP) sent via SMS or email. Once they receive the OTP, they are required to enter that code onto the corresponding screen, and if the code is inputted correctly, SIM Protect will turn off.

2. Scam Screener

Scam Screener identifies suspicious incoming calls, and is our first line of defense against malicious bots and scammers. Scam Screener displays ‘Scam Likely’ when our Customers receive a call that’s likely a scam call. Customers will also see some calls labeled as Telemarketing, Nuisance and other labels so they can make an informed decision when choosing to accept or decline. Scam Screener can also catch spoofed calls thanks to the power of T-Mobile’s network. Best of all, Scam Screener is included on all of our plans at no extra cost. 3. One-Time Passcode Functionality

As mentioned earlier, we use One-Time Passcodes (OTP) for a few different aspects of securing a Customer’s account, like when using SIM Protect. If you’re ever locked out of your account (whether via the app or account management), you can use an OTP to gain access and change your password.

Many of our account features that deal with account info and/or security will trigger an OTP to make sure we are being as secure as possible. And if a Customer ever calls one of our Care agents and needs to do any of these actions over the phone, the Care agent can send an OTP to the customer via SMS or email while on the phone with them — which is why it’s so important to have a valid email address on file!

4. IP Quality Check

IP refers to an Internet Protocol. Every computer has its own unique IP address, kind of like the unique address every home has. Our IP Quality Check feature alerts users if there have been any suspicious login attempts from a different IP address, or if they’re just logging in from a different IP address than usual.
