How do I switch from Simple Mobile to Ultra Mobile?

Officially making the switch can be done in just a few minutes with a few easy steps. We’ll start with what you need to do ahead of time to make the activation as smooth as possible.

1. Prepare for the Switch

Make sure Ultra Mobile will work for you by checking your current phone compatibility and network coverage. Be sure to verify coverage where you live, work and anywhere else you like to spend your time.

2. BYOP?

If you’re bringing your own phone to Ultra Mobile, it needs to be unlocked and compatible with our network. We have an article all about bringing your own phone if you’d like to explore this further.

3. BYON (or Get a New One)

We know a lot of people have an attachment to their current phone number (or just don’t want to go through giving everyone a new number) so we make bringing it to Ultra Mobile easy. The number just has to remain active with Simple Mobile until your Ultra Mobile activation is complete. To bring your number over, you’ll also need your account number, the Number Transfer PIN and your billing ZIP code. Below are the details as to where you can find this information:

  • Your Account Number: This can be found by logging in to your Simple Mobile account online at https://www.simplemobile.com/. It should be listed under My Profile or Account Info.
  • Your Number Transfer PIN: This needs to be requested from Simple Mobile before you can port your number to another carrier. Just text NTP (for Number Transfer Pin) to 611611 from your Simple Mobile phone. You should receive a text back with your 6-digit PIN. You can also call Simple Mobile’s  Customer Service at 1-877-878-7908 to ask for your account number and Number Transfer PIN. You can explore number porting more in-depth via our blog about transferring a number to Ultra Mobile.
  • Billing ZIP Code: If you want a new phone number with Ultra Mobile, all you have to do is provide your home ZIP code during activation, and we will generate one for you based on your location.

4. Choose the best plan for you

All our plans include unlimited nationwide talk and global text, you just have to decide how much high-speed data you need each month. Our plans range from 250MB all the way to Unlimited. If you’re not quite sure what you need, check out how our plans work and take the quiz if you are still on the fence.

5. Choose your SIM Preference

Most phones accept a physical SIM card, which can be mailed to you in 3-5 days. However, if your phone is eSIM-compatible, you can activate your account immediately.

6. Time to Activate!

Once you have your SIM card in hand, or you’re ready to activate with eSIM, make your way to my.ultramobile.com/activate to begin the activation process. Follow the steps on the screen to get your Ultra Mobile plan up and running in no time. For a detailed guide, check out our how-to blog on activation
